A Woman of Strong Faith -

Gloria Jean (Miller) McDade, age 72, of Dillsburg, and formerly of Carlisle, passed away at Geisinger Holy Spirit Hospital in Camp Hill while being comforted by her loving family on Wednesday, January 9, 2019, after a long battle with cancer.  Gloria was born on Saturday, June 22, 1946 in Roaring Springs to the late Ralph Emmerson Miller and Grace Leo (Sheaffer) Miller.  In addition to her parents, Gloria is preceded in death by her three brothers: Richard A. Miller, Jack S. Miller, Vincent R. Miller; and her two sisters: Shirley Blosser and Sylvia A. Welsh.

Gloria’s survivors include her husband of 50 years, William “Bill” Bruce McDade; her two children: Shawn William McDade of Franklintown, Julie “Jul” Lyn Keck of Dillsburg; her four grandsons: Cash Keck, Hudson McDade, Crue Keck, and Ryker McDade; her two brothers: Gerald Miller and his wife, Velma, of Carlisle, Ronald Miller and his wife, Donna, of Carlisle; several nieces and nephews; and her beloved canine companion, Rascal.

Gloria graduated from Carlisle High School as part of the class of 1964.  She worked for the Book of the Month Club in Mechanicsburg, after 22 years of service as a cash receipt clerk.  Her strong work ethic was an example to all.  Gloria had a passion for playing Bingo and loved listening to Elvis Presley’s music.  She enjoyed window-shopping and watching game shows on television.  Gloria loved the Lord; her strong faith in God was exemplified in her kind and giving nature toward everyone she met.  The love that she held for her family was evident in the way that she cared for and supported them.  She made attending Jul’s sporting events and Shawn’s activities a priority. Her four grandsons were the light of her life, and she affectionately referred to them as “her boys”.  Gloria will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

All are welcome to join Gloria’s family at her viewing on Monday, January 14, 2019, from 12:30 p.m. until time of service at 1:30 p.m. at Myers - Buhrig Funeral Home and Crematory, 37 East Main Street, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055; with Celebrant George A. Spangler officiating.  Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens in Harrisburg.
