Stayed Strong and Smiled Through it All -

Gloria Lucille (Sadlock) Ritter Webb, age 87, of Carlisle, died at Sarah A. Todd Memorial Home on Friday, September 11, 2020.  Gloria was born on Sunday, November 6, 1932, in Hazelton, PA to the late Michael Sadlock, Sr. and Anna (Popyak) Sadlock.  Gloria was the widow of Leonard “Len” William Ritter, whom she married on November 10, 1951, and who died on April 21, 1974; and George Ronald Webb, whom she married on April 9, 1995, and who died on January 14, 2015.  In addition to her parents and both husbands, Gloria is preceded in death by her daughter, Marie Anne Ritter; her seven sisters and three brothers.

Gloria’s survivors include her four children: Cheryl Anne Bonsell and husband Barry of Dover, Donna Gates and husband Jeff of Boiling Springs, Suzanne Cramer and husband Cullen “Cuff” of Dillsburg, James “Jamie” Ritter of Dillsburg; her six grandchildren: Jessica Spangler, Jolene George, Ashlee Zimmerman, John Cramer, Cody Bonsell, Brandon Bonsell; her five great-grandchildren and one step-great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.

A lifelong member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church in Mechanicsburg, Gloria served as the rectory housekeeper during Father Waldron’s years as pastor.  She loved to laugh almost as much as she loved the Pittsburgh Steelers and Joe Namath.  Gloria was very musical and enjoyed singing and listening to music.  A trip to Hawaii with her daughter Cheryl was one of the highlights of her life.  Gloria always made the holidays special and Christmas was her favorite.  A homebody at heart, she was a great cook and looked forward to every Saturday when her children would stop in to see her.  Even after they were married, Gloria’s children continued their weekly Saturday visits; and as her dementia advanced, she still recognized them and continued to delight in time spent with them.  Gloria’s entire life was devoted to her children.  She never failed to greet them with, “Hi, sweetheart,” and say goodbye with, “Please drive careful.  I love you.”  The baby and last remaining of eleven children, Gloria experienced profound loss throughout her entire life.  Through the death of her first-born child; her brother’s demise during the Battle of the Bulge; both of her beloved husband’s deaths; her fight against and victory over cancer; and finally her fade into dementia, she gained strength and smiled through it all.  Gloria remains an inspiration to her family.

All are welcome to join Gloria’s family at her gathering of family and friends on Wednesday, September 16, 2020, from 12:30 p.m. until time of funeral service at 1:30 p.m. at Buhrig Funeral Home & Crematory, 37 East Main Street, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055; with Reverend Monsignor William J. King officiating.  Gloria’s family invites everyone to join them for a time of food and fellowship at Buhrig’s Gathering Place (next to the funeral home) immediately following the service.  Burial will follow the reception in Chestnut Hill Cemetery in Mechanicsburg.  Honored to be pallbearers are: Barry Bonsell, Brandon Bonsell, Cody Bonsell, Cuff Cramer, John Cramer, and Jeff Gates.
