Aaron Clarence Kapp
Aaron C. Kapp, age 98, died suddenly on June 17, 2013. A resident of Chapel Pointe in Carlisle, Aaron was happily married for 73 years to the late Esther Hollinger Kapp and was the father of Sharon Gruver, deceased. His sons and daughters-in-law survive him: Kenneth Aaron Kapp of Kalapana, Hawaii, Dennis (and Karen) Kapp of Mechanicsburg, and David (and Billie) Kapp of Mashpee, Massachusetts. Aaron was grandfather to Douglas Kapp, Brian Kapp, Julie Moore, Drew Kapp, Elizabeth Kapp, Kenyon Kapp, Kirsten Barker, and a great-grandfather to Joshua, Krista and Nathan Kapp; Kayla, Lauren and Benjamin Moore; Tyler, Noah, Ashton and Isabel Barker; Nicholl Kapp and Brett Kapp, and David Tavita Kapp.
Aaron was born to Clarence Aaron Kapp and Katherine Wise Kapp of Hamden County on June 9, 1915, and graduated from Mechanicsburg High School . He is the last of his siblings (Anna, Sarah, Grace, George, Glen and Arnold) to die. He worked for the Atlantic Richfield Company (now ARCO ) for many years, starting in the oil fields of Texas in the late 1930s, then walking the pipelines through the mountains of northern Pennsylvania and finally as a terminal operator in Mechanicsburg; later he also worked for the US Naval Supply Depot in Mechanicsburg. Perhaps his greatest pleasure came from being out-of-doors and he was an excellent game hunter. Although he was not a great reader, he enjoyed learning about nature, history and politics through museums and television. Aaron was a devout and disciplined man, an inspiring example of his faith to those around him. He was active in the Immanuel Church of the C&MA in Mechanicsburg for most of his life.
Relatives and friends are invited to help us remember this fine and beloved man by attending a viewing at Immanuel Church beginning at 9:30 am on Saturday, June 22, with a service to follow at 10:30 am. Donations in lieu of flowers may be made to Chapel Pointe , 770 S. Hanover Street, Carlisle, PA 17013 or to Immanuel Church , 800 S. Market Street, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055.
