Ada Alice (Stevens) Brackbill, age 88, of Mechanicsburg, PA , died in the care of Messiah Lifeways at Messiah Village on Saturday, March 22, 2014. She was born in Hammond, LA, on Saturday, May 30, 1925, daughter of the late Willie D. Stevens and Clara Louise (Myers) Stevens. Ada was the widow of Robert L. Brackbill, Sr., who died in 1981.
Ada’s survivors include her daughter, Anna Rankin of Mechanicsburg; her three sons, David Rankin of Virginia; Forrest Brackbill of Mechanicsburg, Robert L. Brackbill, II, of Dillsburg; her 11 grandchildren; her seven great grandchildren; her three sisters, Joyce Busby of LA, Carol Diehl of Mount Joy, Gloria Lockhart of LA; and several nieces and nephews.
Ada loved her flower gardens at her home, where she would feed and watch the birds enjoy the beauty she had created. It was understood that the prettiest yard in the neighborhood was Ada’s. Traveling was a special thrill for Ada, who visited many countries in her many years as a tourist.
All are welcome to join Ada’s family at her Gathering of Family and Friends on Thursday, March 27, 2014, from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at 11:00 a.m. at Myers–Buhrig Funeral Home and Crematory , 37 East Main Street, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055, with Celebrant Mary Medkeff–Rose officiating. Burial will immediately follow in Mechanicsburg Cemetery .
