Alan John Burleson

Alan John Burleson, age 37, of Camp Hill passed away unexpectedly due to complications from diabetes on Sunday, July 14, 2019.  Alan was born on Sunday, October 11, 1981 in Harrisburg to John Edward Burleson and Karen Louise (DeLeon) Burleson and two days after his 31st birthday he married the love of his life, Megan.  Alan is preceded in death by his beloved cat, Charlie, and his ferret, Jaws.

Alan’s survivors include his parents, John and Karen Burleson of Mechanicsburg; his brother, Eric Burleson of San Diego, CA; and his loving cat, Stormy.

Alan graduated from Cumberland Valley High School as part of the class of 2000 and from Susquehanna University in 2004. He enjoyed his jobs at Super Pets and Amazon as well as the several banks he worked for including: Metro Bank, FNB, and Members First.  Alan was a member of the Church of the Good Shepherd in Camp Hill, Yellow Breeches Anglers and Conservation Association and the Conodoguinet Creek Watershed Association. Alan was an avid collector of watches, hats and shoes and had many of each.  He loved the water, whether swimming or fishing.  Alan had an extraordinary talent in fishing, often catching fish when no one else was.  He was always concerned about his environment when out on the creeks and streams.  From his first visit in 1993, at the age of 12, Lochaven Wilderness Lodge on the French River in Ontario, Canada quickly became his favorite place on Earth.  Alan loved athletics, excelling at golf and was an accomplished snow skier.   As a golfer he competed throughout high school, college and for several years afterward.  Alan also made many trips to Stowe, Vermont to “carve up” the slopes.  When not on the streams and lakes, golf course, or the slopes, Alan was a dedicated sports fan, who supported many teams including the Philadelphia Eagles and Phillies, Boston Celtics and Penn State sports teams.  Alan was a jolly guy known for his ability to captivate an audience with his story-telling skills and shared the ability to communicate by using classic 80’s and 90’s movie quotes, with his brother, Eric.  His family and friends will fondly remember Alan’s loyalty, his witty sarcasm and dry sense of humor.  Alan will be greatly missed by many.

All are welcome to dress casually and join Alan’s family on Tuesday, July 23, 2019, at his open house with food and fellowship starting at 2:30 p.m., with his prayer service starting at 4:00 p.m., and his time of remembrance and storytelling starting at 4:30 p.m. all at Buhrig Funeral Home and Crematory, 37 East Main Street, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055.  Cremation was private.
