Albert Donald Gill, 91, of York Springs , and formerly of Mechanicsburg , died at home and surrounded by his loving family on Friday, March 15, 2013. He was born in Newville, on Sunday, January 22, 1922, son of the late William Z. Gill and Carrie (Laughman) Gill. Albert was the husband of Jean Theresa (Kramer) Gill whom he married on May 8, 1948.
Albert’s survivors include his loving wife of almost 65 years, Jean; his children, Dr. Ronald L. Gill and his wife Barbara of NY, Kathy Delmonico and her husband Lou of FL, Barbie Ginter and Rod of Dillsburg, Patty Shive and her husband Stan of Gardners, M. Nan Witt and her husband Emitt III of MO, Joan Bryant and her husband Robert of York Springs, Donna Sohmer and her husband Ryan of Harrisburg; his siblings, Fred Gill of Carlisle, John Gill of Mechanicsburg, Peggy Hofer of Mechanicsburg; 18 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Among those preceding Albert in death are his daughter, Judy Gill-Failor-Summey; 7 sisters and 2 brothers.
Albert retired from Bethlehem/Harrisburg Steel . He was a US Army WWII Veteran . Albert loved flowers and gardening. He was a very sentimental man who adored his family. Albert appeared as a witness for the lottery drawings several times on television. Many people in Mechanicsburg knew Albert as the man walking with the little white dog.
All are welcome to join Albert’s family at his viewing on Thursday, March 21, 2013, from 12:30 until time of service at 1:30 at Myers–Buhrig Funeral Home and Crematory , 37 East Main Street, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055, with Pastor Tim Wheeler officiating. Burial will follow in Rolling Green Memorial Park in Camp Hill, where military honors will be presented by the Cumberland County Honor Guard .
