Albert “Ed” Edwin Dyer, age 75, of Mechanicsburg, passed away on Monday, September 3, 2018.  Ed was born on Saturday, April 10, 1943 in Harrisburg to the late Norman Walter Dyer and Dorothy (Delmotte) Dyer.

Ed’s survivors include his daughter, Dawn Fitzpatrick and her husband, Brad McDowell, of Iowa City, IA, his grandson, Samuel “Sam” McDowell of Iowa City, IA; his sister, Norma Ostot of Mechanicsburg; and his brother, Richard “Dick” Dyer of Pennsylvania.

Ed graduated from Mechanicsburg Area High School and then proudly served in the United States Navy.  He was a member of the Williams Grove Historical Steam Engine Association (WGHSEA), Lower Allen VFW Post 7530, American Legion Post #109, Mechanicsburg Club, and Eureka – West Shore Lodge No. 302.  Ed worked as a self-employed electrician his whole life.  He enjoyed listening to Bluegrass music and attending festivals all over the area.

All are welcome to join Ed’s family at his gathering of family and friends on Saturday, October 6, 2018, from 3:00 p.m. until time of Masonic Service at 4:00 p.m. followed by a religious service officiated by Pastor Sheldon Ames with full military honors presented by the Cumberland County Honor Guard to conclude, all at Myers-Buhrig Funeral Home & Crematory, 37 East Main Street, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055.  Ed’s family invites everyone to join them for a time of food and fellowship at the Eureka – West Shore Lodge No. 302, 910 South Market Street, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055, following the services.  Cremation was private.

Contributions in celebration of Ed’s life can be made to any local Boy Scouts Council of the donor’s choosing in Mechanicsburg or to the Cumberland County Honor Guard, 18 N. Hanover Street, Suite 103, Carlisle, PA 17013.
