A Local Dirt Track Legend -

Alfred Dwight Leib (a.k.a. A.D. Sideways Leib), age 75, of Mechanicsburg, and formerly of Hummelstown, passed away while with family on Friday, October 15, 2021. Dwight was born on Wednesday, March 6, 1946, to the late Blain E. Leib, and Doris Jean (McNaughton) Leib, who preceded him in death. Dwight is also preceded in death by his daughter-in-law, Lisa Marie Goulet.

Dwight was a local celebrity. Driving, most notably, the A1 car, he was a repeat dirt track racing champion, described as fearless by those who cheered him on at the Silver Springs Speedway. He was an Army Veteran, using his mechanical skills on the track to work years at Classic Dry Cleaners. Always smiling, Dwight’s free time was most enjoyed with family around bonfires, food, hayrides, and parties — when he wasn’t traveling, fishing, or camping. Dwight’s knack for creativity, invention, and ability to fix anything has been gratefully passed down to others in his family.

Dwights’ survivors include his wife of 22 years, Wendy Irene Leib; his four children: Jennifer Jill Duppstadt and husband, SFC Chad, of Harrisburg; Justin Micheal Leib and wife, Nicola, of Loveland, OH; Kevin Paul Goulet and fiancé, Elizabeth Jones, of Harrisburg; and Phil Goulet of Carlisle; his six grandchildren: Madelyn, Caelyn, Zara, Collin, Jessica, Emma, and Jon; his six siblings: Nancy Faircloth and husband, Ed, of Wellsville; Emily Shute of North Port, FL; Earl Leib and wife, Betty, of Mechanicsburg; John Leib and wife, Glenda, of Carlisle; Blain Lee Leib of Mechanicsburg; Harold Leib of Carlisle; and several nieces, nephews, close friends, and fans.

A Celebration of Life service will be announced at a later date. Cremation was private.
