Alice Kay (Slothower) Wissler Golden
Alice Kay (Slothower) Wissler Golden, age 81, of Carlisle, passed away on Saturday, September 10, 2022. Alice was born on Monday, October 28, 1940, in Lemoyne to the late Earl Slothower and Clara Mae (Bretz) Slothower. Alice was the widow of Billy Boyd Golden, whom She married in July of 1982, and who died on November 13, 2019. In addition to her parents and husband, Alice is preceded in death by her son, Joseph Wissler, III; her grandson, Joseph “Joey” Wissler, IV; her brother, George Gates; and her sister, Betty Karns.
Alice’s survivors include her three children: Jeffrey “Duke” S. Wissler, Sr. and his wife, Nancy, of Dillsburg; Michelle “Mickey” M. Speaker of Camp Hill; Kimberly “Kim” Apgar of Camp Hill; her 15 grandchildren: Joseph, Greg, Lisa, Heather, Christina, Sarah, Angela, Alisha, Fred, Jacqueline, Samuel, Victoria, Jeffrey Jr., Casey, Daniel; her 14 great-grandchildren; her sister, Barbara Jacobs of Glen Burnie, MD; her daughter in-law, Theresa Wissler of Harrisburg; and several nieces and nephews.
Alice owned and operated Golden’s Gifts Galore in Halifax and at various flea markets. She deeply enjoyed traveling, especially with Billy, and she wanted to see the world. Golden’s Gifts Galore helped fund many cruises and trips to Hawaii, Las Vegas, Nashville, and various other places. Alice liked to cook and entertain. Her favorite holidays to do so were Christmas and Halloween. In her spare time, Alice enjoyed gardening in both her flower and vegetable gardens, going out dancing, and listening to and playing music. Alice played the piano, autoharp, organ and accordion, and liked all kinds of music, with her favorites being country western and 50’s. She was known to be an extremely generous person and she always had a feline friend. Above all else, Alice loved her family. Her children and grandchildren meant the world to her. She will be greatly missed.
All are welcome to join Alice’s family at her viewing on Monday, September 19, 2022, from 12:00 p.m. until time of service at 1:00 p.m. at Buhrig Funeral Home & Crematory, 37 East Main Street, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055; with Celebrant George A. Spangler officiating. Burial will follow the service in Tri-County Memorial Gardens in Lewisberry. Alice’s family invites everyone to join them for a time of food and fellowship at Outback Steakhouse, 1201 Lower Allen Drive, Camp Hill, PA 17011, from 4:00 p.m. until 5:30 p.m.
