Andrew “Andy” James Juers

An Artistic and Creative Man -

Andrew “Andy” James Juers, age 58, of Shiremanstown, and formerly of Ephrata, Harrisburg, and Elizabethtown, passed away at home on Friday, March 3, 2017.  Andy was born on Tuesday, February 3, 1959 in Bay Shore, NY to the late Frederick Adolf Juers and June Elizabeth (Knox) Juers.  In addition to his parents, Andy is preceded in death by his sister, Carolyn June Juers.

Andy’s survivors include his wife of 20 years, Elise Diane (White) Juers; his son, Mark Juers and his wife, Kelleigh, and their children, Moxie and Rhys, of Bloomington, IN; his two brothers: David B. Juers of Shiremanstown, PA, Alan F. Juers and his wife, Kathy, of Sykesville, MD.

Andy graduated from Cedar Crest High School as part of the class of 1977 and from the Florida Institute of Technology in 1979 with an associate’s degree in oceanography.  He retired from the Department of Corrections in Camp Hill, after around 15 years of service working as an IT technician.  Andy was a very artistic and creative person.  He enjoyed gemology, photography, and laser engraving. Andy was also a lapidary who liked beadwork and jewelry; he even owned a business called AJ’s Beads.  He had a very curious and lively mind and was very social.  And he loved traveling and exploring.  This often led to him just getting in his car and traveling off to unique and out-of-the-way spots both local and far afield and, of course, talking to and otherwise getting to know the people he met there, often adding one or two to the long list of friends and acquaintances he had acquired over the years.

All are welcome to join Andy’s family for a simple time of goodbye to a friend and loved one on Thursday, March 9, 2017, beginning at 11:00 a.m. at the Bible Baptist Church’s Fellowship Hall – “Santos Center”, 201 West Main Street, Shiremanstown, PA 17011; with Pastor Ron Berrus officiating.  The family requests that everyone dress casual and comfortable and to use this as a time to share a memory, anecdote, or say a kind word about Andy.  This is a final chance to bring Andy to life one final time before he fades away.

To honor Andy’s commitment to health and education, his body has been donated to Pennsylvania Humanity Gifts Registry.

Andy’s family has entrusted his care to Myers – Buhrig Funeral Home and Crematory in Mechanicsburg, (717) 766-3421.  Read Andy’s full obituary and sign his official guest book at www.Buhrig.com .
