Andrew “Andy” Nelson Berlin, age 36, of Carlisle , and formerly of Silver Spring Township , died unexpectedly at his home on Friday, May 2, 2014.  Andy was born on Friday, May 20, 1977 in Camp Hill to Nelson Dean Berlin and Sharon Lynn (Reynolds) Berlin.

Andy’s survivors include his loving parents, Nelson and Sharon Berlin of Mechanicsburg; 11-year-old Cole, who he deeply loved; his sister, Amy (Berlin) Starr and her husband, Tim, of Elysburg; his nephew and two nieces, Ben, Rebecca, and Sarah Halderman, all of Elysburg; his aunts and uncles: Reginald L. Berlin and his family, Gail (Berlin) Stuckey and her family, Mike Reynolds and his family; and Deborah Bubb and her family.

Andy graduated from Cumberland Valley High School as part of the class of 1996 and from Universal Technical Institute in Texas as class valedictorian in 1997, where he became a certified master mechanic.  He was employed by CRST Regional Way in Carlisle and formerly for Schneider National Trucking in Carlisle.  Andy proudly served as a volunteer firefighter with Silver Spring Community Fire Company – Company 31, and he was a member of the Blue Moon Cruisers Rod & Custom Association .  He was a Ford, “First on Race Day”, enthusiast, who took great pleasure in restoring and driving Mustangs.  Andy enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping.  He loved country & western music, especially Randy Travis and LeAnn Rimes.  Andy was known for fixing anything and everything, for making people laugh, and most of all, for his generous, helpful spirit.  He will be deeply missed by everyone lucky enough to have known him.

All are welcome to join Andy’s family for his Viewing and Celebration of Life Reception from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and his Funeral Service at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 8, 2014 at Silver Spring Banquet Center , 6471 Carlisle Pike, Mechanicsburg, PA 17050; with the Reverend George A. Spangler and Chaplain Edward L. Rabenstein officiating.  Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family in Chestnut Hill Cemetery in Mechanicsburg where Firefighter Honors will be presented by his fellow volunteers.  Honored to be pallbearers are: Andy Grove, Doug McDonald, Jeremy Baney, Jeremy LeBeau, Brian Steigleman, Todd Wright, Ben Halderman, and Ben McDonald as Helmet Bearer.
