Anna “Tiny” Mae (Barrick) Trace

A Very Green Thumb and Hearty Laugh -

Anna “Tiny” Mae (Barrick) Trace, age 90, of Mechanicsburg, died at home on Thursday, January 7, 2016.  Anna was born on Tuesday, July 28, 1925 in Bloserville, PA to the late Jacob Floyd Barrick and Leeona Odel (Clouser) Barrick.  Anna was the widow of Harry David Trace, Jr., a proud veteran of World War II whom she married on June 8, 1958, and who died on August 18, 1984.  In addition to her parents and husband, Anna is preceded in death by her two sisters, Violet Lebo and Mary Thumma.

Anna’s survivors include her two special nieces and great-nephews: Linda Brenize and her husband, Ronald, and their two sons, Nathan and Brandon, all of Boiling Springs, Diane Howard and her husband, Mike, of Mechanicsburg; her special nephew, Larry Lebo and his wife, Sandra, of Carlisle; her one sister, Evelyn Barrick, of Carlisle; and several other nieces and nephews.

Anna grew up in Bloserville and lived in Mechanicsburg all of her adult life.  She retired from New Cumberland Army Depot after 40 years working in cafeteria service.  Anna attended St. Mary’s United Methodist Church in Bloserville during her childhood, and as an adult, she faithfully attended First Church of God in Mechanicsburg.  Alongside her husband who was the fire chief, Anna was a dedicated volunteer in the Washington Fire Company #1 in Mechanicsburg for many years.  She participated in activities at Mechanicsburg Senior Center and particularly enjoyed bus trips.  Anna had a very green thumb; bringing flowers indoors and replanting them outside, and keeping geraniums and African violets alive and thriving.  There are many fond memories of Anna’s big family dinners and holidays, which she loved to host.  One of Anna’s special dishes was cracker pudding.  She loved Celtic music and would tap her foot along with the tunes that her niece, Linda, would play on the tin whistle.  Anna’s hearty laugh and spirit will be missed.

All are welcome to join Anna’s family at her viewing on Thursday, January 14, 2016, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and on Friday, January 15, 2016, from 11:00 a.m. until time of service at 11:30 a.m., at Myers - Buhrig Funeral Home and Crematory, 37 East Main Street, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055; with Reverend Dr. Charles H. Hostetter officiating.  Burial will follow in Cumberland Valley Memorial Gardens in Carlisle.  Anna’s family invites everyone to join them for a time of food and fellowship at Momma Spriggs Casual Eatery, 160 York Road, Carlisle, PA 17013 following the burial.

The family suggests memorial contributions to St. Mary’s United Methodist Church, 4133 Enola Road, Newville, PA 17241; or to Mechanicsburg Place (A Senior Center & More), 97 West Portland Street, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055.
