Loving Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother & Sister -

Anne Cocklin Mower, a resident of Elmcroft Senior Living in State College, PA, died Sunday, February 19, 2017.  She was born on Monday, February 26, 1917 in Mechanicsburg, PA to the late Henry S. and Emma (Campbell) Cocklin.  Anne was a graduate of Mechanicsburg High School in 1936, in the same class as her future husband.

Anne and Glenn Mower, Jr were married on November 10, 1939 in a ceremony in the Mt. Pleasant Church of God in York County with the Rev. Clarence Weigle officiating.

Their first child, Judith Evelyn, now “Garee”, residing in Bloominton, Il was born in a Mechanicsburg hospital that had been the residence of Anne’s grandfather, Dr. E.E. Campbell, president and proprietor of what for years was a highly respected institution: Irving Female College.  A second child, Steven Alan Mower of State College, PA was born when Anne was residing in Elysburg, PA.  A second son, Alfred Glenn Mower, III was born when she was living in Airville, PA. He now resides with his wife, Donna, in Carmel, IN.

In addition to these children, Anne is survived by eight grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and her brother, Eric Cocklin of Mechanicsburg.  She is preceded in death by her husband, Glenn Mower, Jr, who died in January of 2015.

Anne was active in women’s societies and taught Sunday School classes in churches to which Glenn was ministering.  She also served as a Girl Scout leader. Later activities included bowling and knitting with a craft group on the Hanover College Campus where Glenn was teaching.  After retiring to State College in 1981, she was an active member in a craft group at the Park Forest Village United Methodist Church.   Anne was a life-long sports fan and enjoyed football, basketball, baseball, wrestling, volleyball, gymnastics and track/field.  Until the onset of diminished eyesight, she was a regular attendant at these events on the Penn State University campus.

Services will be held in the early summer and announced at a later date.  Burial will follow in Chestnut Hill Cemetery in Mechanicsburg.  Cremation was private.
