Ardell G (Baughman) Volpe
Ardell G. (Baughman) Volpe, age 71, of Carlisle, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, January 30, 2020 at home. Ardell was born on Tuesday, April 20, 1948 in Penn Yan, NY to the late Raymond G. Baughman and Ruth C. Baughman. In addition to her parents, Ardell is preceded in death by her siblings: Joel Baughman, Ella “Sweetheart” Kimbrell, Loren Baughman, Dixie Ward, Ethel “Babe” Snell.
Ardell’s survivors include her life partner, Tim Trainor; her two sons: Greg Volpe of Carlisle, Phil Volpe, III of Savannah, GA; her two granddaughters: Courtney of Savannah, GA, Brandi of Clyde, NY; father of her sons, Phil Volpe, Jr.; her six siblings: Bradley Baughman and his wife, Connie, of Dresden, NY, Nina Hurlburt of Penn Yan, NY, Resa Kjar and her husband, Bill, of Fredericksburg, VA, Lynne Bonavita of Townville, SC, Daryl Baughman of Dresden, NY, Neal Baughman and his wife, Elsa, of Stafford, VA; numerous nieces, nephews, and friends; and her faithful dog, Buddy, that she loved so much – he was by her side until the very end.
Ardell was the 11th of 15 children. She grew up on South Avenue in Penn Yan. She married Phil Volpe, Jr. in 1967 in Penn Yan. They then raised two sons in Clyde, NY. Ardell lived in Newark for many years where she worked at IEC for 30 years. Many of her coworkers at IEC became longtime treasured friends. After retiring from IEC, she, her sons, granddaughters and life partner, Tim Trainor, moved to Savannah, GA. Several years later, they all relocated to Carlisle, PA where she currently resided.
Ardell enjoyed collecting seashells, doing puzzles and playing Words with Friends online with her family and friends. Ardell also enjoyed babysitting her granddaughters throughout the years and they meant the world to her. She enjoyed any time she spent with them. Ardell always looked forward to the yearly Baughman reunions every summer and would often be the one trying to get everyone involved in some sort of silly game. Family meant everything to her. Ardell is already sorely missed and will always be in our hearts.
The family is planning a funeral service to be held in NY at a later date. Information will be announced. Cremation was private.
