Arlene Marie (Hampsher) Winters, 82, of Carlisle , and formerly of Mechanicsburg , died peacefully at home and surrounded by her loving family on Wednesday, August 7, 2013.  She was born in Williamsport, on Sunday, October 5, 1930, daughter of the late Harry F. Hampsher, Sr. and Wilhemenia Anna (Try) Hampsher.  Arlene was the widow of Raymond “Ray” Theodore Winters whom she married on July 27, 1950, and who died October 11, 2005.

Arlene’s survivors include her loving children, David Winters and his wife Tea of Mt. Holly Springs, Gary Winters and his wife Joyce of Sharpsburg, MD, Linda Dolan and her late husband William of Duncannon, Karen Buckheit of Carlisle, Melody Winters of Carlisle; ten grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.  Among those preceding Arlene in death are her infant child; her great-grandson, Jacob “Jake” Winters; and her brothers, Lawrence, Harry and William Hampsher.

Arlene was a long-time member of Keystone Worship Center .  She loved to collect and try recipes, many of which have been passed to her children who make them now in memory of their mother.  Cooking, baking, canning and crafts were all special activities that Arlene enjoyed.  Her family hails her bread pudding and sweet potatoes as the “best anywhere.”  Every month for years, Arlene would make crafts for the nursing home residents of Seidle and Claremont.  Arlene was devoted to her faith, reading her bible and doing her devotions every day.  She never raised her voice, was even tempered and loved children and especially her grandchildren.  She will be greatly missed.

All are welcome to join Arlene’s family at her gathering of family and friends on Wednesday, August 14, 2013, from 10:30 until time of service at 11:30 at Myers–Buhrig Funeral Home and Crematory , 37 East Main Street, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055, with Brother Richard Benkovic officiating.  Burial will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens in Harrisburg.  Honored to be pallbearers are: Solomon Beltz, Brian Buckheit, John Buckheit, Jason Deemer, Joshua Deemer, Dennis Walton, Jr., and Luke Winters.  Arlene’s family invites everyone to join them for a time of food and fellowship at the New Kingstown Banquet Hall , 277 North Locust Point Road, New Kingstown, PA 17072, following the burial.

The family suggests memorial contributions to Hospice of Central Pennsylvania , 1320 Linglestown Road, Harrisburg, PA 17110.  The family sends their most heartfelt thanks to everyone at Hospice of Central Pennsylvania who so lovingly cared for Arlene during her illness.
