Armenta Mae (Churchey) Sherk, 90, of Carlisle , and formerly of the Harrisburg Area , died at Sarah A. Todd Memorial Home on Tuesday, December 3, 2013.  She was born in Sharpsburg, MD, on Saturday, December 1, 1923, daughter of the late Walter W. Churchey and Della Mae (Saylar) Churchey. Armenta was the widow of John William Sherk who died on January 17, 1994.

Armenta’s survivors include her children, John William Sherk, Jr. and his wife Geraldine of Dauphin and their children, Sherry and Julie; Terry A. Sherk and his wife Barbara of Langhorne and his children, Stewart and Stephan; Bonnie C. Stuart and her husband Allen, Jr. of Mechanicsburg and their children, Chad and Alanna; A. Jean Houck of Dillsburg and her children, Christopher and Keri; 18 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.  Among those preceding Armenta in death is a brother, Charles Churchey.

Armenta retired from Rite Aid in Shiremanstown, working as an order processer.   She was a former member of Grace Bible Fellowship Church in Harrisburg.  Armenta was a Girl Scout Leader and babysat for many families in her younger years.  She enjoyed latch hook, needlepoint, baking cookies with her grandchildren, and especially events involving her family.

All are welcome to join Armenta’s family at her viewing on Saturday, December 7, 2013, from 9:30 until time of service at 10:30 at Myers–Buhrig Funeral Home and Crematory , 37 East Main Street, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055, with Reverend Donald E. Rudge officiating.  Burial will follow in Rolling Green Memorial Park in Camp Hill.  Armenta’s family invites everyone to join them for a time of food and fellowship at Mount Calvary Episcopal Church , 125 N. 25th Street, Camp Hill, immediately following the burial.

The family suggests memorial contributions to National Multiple Sclerosis Society , PO Box 4527, New York, NY 10163.  The family sends their most heartfelt thanks to everyone at Sarah A. Todd Memorial Home who so lovingly cared for Armenta.
