Arthur “Art” “Bill” T. Chenoweth, Jr.
Devoted Father and Husband -
Arthur “Art” “Bill” T. Chenoweth, Jr., age 90, of Mechanicsburg, and formerly of Lower Allen Township, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, February 13, 2018. Art was born on Monday, October 31, 1927 in Harrisburg to the late Arthur T. Chenoweth, Sr. and Jennie Esther (Hood) Chenoweth. Art was the widower of Arlene Marie (Neuer) Chenoweth, whom he married on April 9, 1949, and who died on October 17, 2001.
Art’s survivors include his son, William R. Chenoweth of Camp Hill; his daughter, Jan L. Rohrer and her husband, Evan, of Mechanicsburg; his three grandchildren: Daniel E. Rohrer and his wife, Erin, and their children: Anna V., Elizabeth H., and Josiah D., of Mechanicsburg, Laura E. Hovis and her husband, Jake, of Aurora, CO, and Maxwell J. Chenoweth of Camp Hill; and Art’s loving companion of 12 years, Shirley M. Reeser of Camp Hill.
Art proudly served in the United States Navy during World War II. He worked as an auctioneer for over 20 years serving the West Shore and surrounding communities as well as volunteering his services for Goodwill. Art then worked for Hempt Bros., Inc. in Camp Hill as a security guard for 18 years. He was a long time member of Bible Baptist Church in Shiremanstown, where he served as a part of the senior class. Art was actively involved in the Mechanicsburg and New Cumberland Senior Centers. He was an avid sportsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, and the outdoors. Art was a devoted father and husband who loved spending time with his family.
All are welcome to join Art’s family at his gathering of family and friends on Monday, March 5, 2018, from 10:30 a.m. until time of service at 11:30 a.m. at Bible Baptist Church, 201 West Main Street, Shiremanstown, PA 17011; with Reverend John H. Schaffer officiating. Interment will follow in Rolling Green Cemetery in Camp Hill, where military honors will be presented by the Cumberland County Honor Guard. Cremation was private.
