Asa was a former employee of Capital Products and Kessler’s , and he worked for his late brother, Richard A. Zook, at his service station on the Carlisle Pike. Asa called Apostolic Faith Church in Mechanicsburg his church home since 1975. There he read the entire Bible in a Bible reading program. He loved to sing the Old Rugged Cross and other old hymns. Asa was raised as an outdoorsman; fishing, hunting and trapping with his father and brothers, and teaching his two sons to be outdoorsman. He enjoyed planting gardens, which he did every year. Asa loved fruit trees and would spend hours standing on a step ladder picking cherries. He always dreamed of having a large open field where he could plant a variety of fruit trees. Asa was a Philadelphia Phillies fan all his life, rarely missing a game on television or radio. He had occasion to go in person and always shared those times with everyone he met. Asa loved to share stories of his childhood and growing up on the farm. He had quite a memory for minor details and remembering conversations verbatim years after they would take place. Most of all, Asa was a beloved father and grandfather.
