Dedicated and Loving Mother -
Audrey Janet (Danner) Austin, age 75, of Mechanicsburg , died at home peacefully and surrounded by her loving family on Wednesday, July 22, 2015. Audrey was born on Wednesday, December 11, 1939 in Harrisburg to the late William Leon Danner and Evelyn Marie (Bretz) Danner. Audrey was the widow of Richard “Dick” C. Austin who died on March 28, 1994. In addition to her parents and husband, Audrey is preceded in death by her partner of 26 years, Ernest Harold Rabold, who died on May 23, 1992.
Audrey’s survivors include her children: Angie Davis Finney of Carlisle, Tina Davis Lyter of Mechanicsburg, Delbert Davis III of Mechanicsburg, Keith Davis of Carlisle, Melanie Davis Chestnut of Perry County, Tammy Davis Cook and her husband, Dave, of Carlisle; her total of 44 grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; her brothers, William Danner and Terry Danner of Mechanicsburg; her sister, Ardella Weber, of California, her half-brother, Dave Small, of Carlisle; and several nieces and nephews.
Audrey graduated from Cumberland Valley High School as part of the class of 1958. She was a hard worker, but Audrey was a prankster who always found time for fun and playing tricks with fake spiders and mice. She enjoyed going out to eat dinner and ice cream, having fun at the casino and horse track, and night fishing. Audrey was an excellent cook who always ensured her family had the nicest holidays. She was a dedicated mother and grandmother who selflessly gave her all to her children and grandchildren.
All are welcome to join Audrey’s family at her viewing on Monday, July 27, 2015, from 12:00 p.m. until time of service at 1:30 p.m. at Myers - Buhrig Funeral Home and Crematory , 37 East Main Street, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055. Burial will follow in Westminster Cemetery in Carlisle. Audrey’s family invites everyone to join them for a time of food and fellowship at Hoss’s Steak and Sea House in Carlisle following the burial. Honored to be pallbearers are: Darrin Henry, Derek Henry, Richard Lyter, Keith Davis, Jr., Tyler Davis, Trenton Cook, Trevor Cook, and Tanner Cook.
