Audrey Ann (Lang) Turner

Audrey Ann (Lang) Turner, age 67, of Mechanicsburg, and formerly of Highspire, passed from this life while surrounded by her family on Thursday, September 24, 2020.  Audrey was born on Friday, August 7, 1953, in Harrisburg to the late Jacob Charles Lang and Catherine Mildred (Murlin) Lang.  In addition to her parents, Audrey is preceded in death by her sister, Catherine Perez.

Audrey’s survivors include her two sons: Gary Lee Turner, Jr. and wife Jen of Harrisburg, Brian Jacob Turner and wife Kerin of Mechanicsburg; her four precious grandchildren: Katelyn, Trevor, Evan, and Levi; her long-time companion, William “Bill” Perkins of Highspire; several nieces and nephews; and her beloved cat, JoJo.

Audrey graduated from Steelton High School as part of the class of 1971.  She retired from Pennsylvania Department of Revenue in Harrisburg, after many years of service working as a clerk.  Audrey was a member of PARSE – Pennsylvania Association of Retired State Employees.  Audrey collected salt & pepper shakers, loved to play bingo and solve crossword puzzles.  She enjoyed going out to eat, especially Chinese food and did so nearly every day.  One of her favorite ways to pass the time was watching the television shows from her younger years, like the Andy Griffith Show and Gomer Pyle, USMC.  She also enjoyed bargain hunting and loved to get a “deal”; even if it wasn’t something she needed.  Audrey was the family photographer and shot many photos using her trusty disposable cameras.  Her grandchildren were the light of her life and she cherished the time that she spent with them.  She often was their babysitter and spent hours playing board games and watching movies with them.  Her family and friends will greatly miss her.

All are welcome to join Audrey’s family at her gathering of family and friends on Tuesday, October 6, 2020, from 1:30 p.m. until time of service at 2:30 p.m. at Buhrig Funeral Home & Crematory, 37 East Main Street, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055; with Celebrant George A. Spangler officiating.  Cremation was private.

The family sends their most heartfelt thanks to Audrey’s niece, Valarie Perez, and everyone at Homeland Hospice who so lovingly cared for Audrey during her illness.
