Barbara Ann (Schmick) Miller

A Family Oriented Woman -

Barbara Ann (Schmick) Miller, age 84, of Mechanicsburg, and formerly of Paxtonia and Linglestown, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 26, 2019.  Barbara was born on Sunday, August 5, 1934 in Lykens to the late George Andrew Schmick and Anna Rose (Charney) Schmick.  In addition to her parents, Barbara is preceded in death by her two brothers, Richard Schmick, Jim Schmick; and her brother-in-law, Gene Hitz.

Barbara’s survivors include her four children: Amy Miller of Harrisburg, Ed Miller and his wife, Alicia, of Hummelstown, Ivan Miller and his wife, Tammy, of Mechanicsburg, Nancy Miller-Lee and her husband, Dave, of Manhasset, NY; her four grandchildren: Brandon Hubler, Tessa Miller, Aiden Miller, Zen Lee; her great-granddaughter: Stella Hubler; her sister: Mary (Schmick) Hitz of Lebanon; and several nieces and nephews.

Barbara graduated from Wiconisco High School as part of the class of 1952. She retired from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania’s Department of General Services in Harrisburg, after 19 years of service working as a clerk.  Barbara also worked as a real estate agent for 12 years and served as a dedicated volunteer with many of the Republican campaigns.  She enjoyed painting and reading, particularly romance novels.  Barbara also liked shopping, watching the news, and spending time at the beach with her toes in the sand.  Her favorite things to do involved baking, making her famous jellies, canning, and gardening, especially tending to her rose garden.  Barbara’s greatest treasure was her family, to whom she was completely devoted.  She was very family oriented and loved to dote on her grandchildren and great-granddaughter.

Barbara’s family will be remembering her life privately.  Cremation was private.
