Beatrice “Bea” Roumaine (Jones) Waggoner
Gift Was Serving Others -
Beatrice “Bea” Roumaine (Jones) Waggoner, age 95, of Mechanicsburg, passed away at Bethany Village on Sunday, January 17, 2021. Bea was born on Sunday, August 30, 1925, in Shippensburg to the late Jesse Freet Jones and Leora (Booz) Jones. Bea was the widow of Vance Vogelsong Waggoner, whom she married on March 12, 1949, and who died on December 29, 2005. In addition to her parents and husband, Bea is preceded in death by her two sisters: Louise Karper and Bernita Bistline, her twin; her brother, Chester Jones; and her son-in-law, Steven Brunner.
Bea’s survivors include her daughter, Christine “Chris” Ann Brunner of Covington, IN; her two grandsons: Aaron James Brunner and wife Stacey of Norman, OK, Chad Steven Brunner and wife Erin of Twinsburg, OH; her seven great-grandchildren: Benjamin, Samuel, Joshua, Matthew, Dylan, Elijah, Anna; her two brothers, LeRoy Jones of Shippensburg, John Jones and wife Romaine of Shippensburg; her sister, Ethel Palmer of Shippensburg; and several nieces and nephews.
Bea was born and raised on a dairy farm, so hard work was woven into the fabric of her life. She loved to cook and bake and spent many years helping to make peach pies and chicken corn soup for the Bethany Village Peach Festival. Bea also enjoyed crocheting and knitting. Over the years, she had been employed as a cafeteria worker at Cumberland Valley High School, as a sales associate for Hickory Farms, and as a short order cook at the A&W Root Beer Stand and The Pancake Wagon located in Hogestown. Bea’s gift was serving others. This was evidenced in the over 30 years that she spent volunteering at Bethany Village. She also liked camping, square dancing, and spending time with her family. She was a life member and volunteer of the Bethany Village Auxiliary.
Bea’s family will be remembering her life privately. Burial in St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church Cemetery in Enola will be at the family’s convenience.
