Belva Jane (Leonard) Enck

Belva Jane (Leonard) Enck, age 82, of Mechanicsburg, peacefully passed away at home on Thursday, April 11, 2019.  Belva was born on Monday, November 16, 1936 in Ickesburg to the late Harry Robert Leonard, Sr. and Sarah Kathryn (Bender) Leonard.  In addition to her parents, Belva is preceded in death by her son, Craig E. Enck; her two brothers, Harry Leonard and Mark Leonard; and her sister, Ada Sayres.

Belva’s survivors include her husband of 57 years, Ronald “Ron” Gates Enck; her son: Rodney Allen Enck and his wife, Jennifer, of Shermans Dale; her six siblings: John Leonard of Blue Grass, Iowa; Fay Welsh, of Jacksonville, Florida; Doris Keister of Monroeville, PA; Lois Arthur of Millerstown, PA; Sara Lou Kerstetter of Millersburg, PA; Reida Newlan and her husband, Clarence, of Millerstown, PA; several nieces and nephews; and her beloved Poodle, Snoopy.

Belva graduated from Greenpark Union High School as part of the class of 1954 and from Harrisburg Hospital Nursing School in 1957 as a Registered Nurse.  In early life, she worked at Harrisburg Hospital as a registered nurse and became a stay at home mom and homemaker once her sons were born.  Belva has been a member of Mt. Zion Lutheran Church in Boiling Springs (Churchtown) since 1969 and a member of the Harrisburg Hospital Nurses Alumni Association.  Belva liked to read and greatly enjoyed music, especially listening to big band and country, and playing the clarinet in high school.  Belva made it a point to stay in touch with her siblings, calling them on the telephone every day.  A loving and caring woman, Belva will be deeply missed.

All are welcome to join Belva’s family from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, April 16, 2019, at Buhrig Funeral Home and Crematory, 37 East Main Street, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055; with The Reverend Deborah L. Brumbaugh officiating.  Burial will follow in Mt. Zion Cemetery in Churchtown.  Belva’s family invites everyone to join them for a time of food and fellowship at her church immediately following her burial.

The family sends their most heartfelt thanks to the staff at Homeland Hospice and her niece, Deb Kauffman, who so lovingly cared for Belva during her illness.
