Benjamin “Ben” Dluzeski, 49, of Mechanicsburg , died at home on Monday, August 27, 2012, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born in Arvida, Quebec on Tuesday, November 27, 1962 the son of Dolores (Bittenbender) Dluzeski of Mechanicsburg and the late Stanley Dluzeski. Ben was the husband of Jacqueline “Jackie” Ann (Petsche) Dluzeski whom he married on March 7, 1998.
Ben graduated from Cumberland Valley High School as part of the class of 1981 and was part of the track team coached by Harry Chapman. Ben started his employment career in the produce department of Giant Foods. He was a salesman for Keebler and a dockworker at Consolidated Freight, Roadway, and New Cumberland Army Depot. Ben was a member of Teamsters Local Union #766. He was a 30 plus year member of Company H of the 7 th PA Reserves, The Cumberland Guard reenactors. Ben was a lifelong Green Bay Packer fanatic and developed a web page where diehard Packer fans would avidly follow. He was a very talented writer, cartoonist, and an internet DJ known as "Mr. Hyde". Ben was meticulous and professional in all his many endeavors. Above all Ben was a kind- hearted man with a great sense of humor who “never had a bad word to say about anybody”.
Ben’s survivors include his loving wife of 14 years, Jackie; his mother, Dolores; three brothers, Ray Dluzeski and wife Pam, of Carlisle, Gary Dluzeski and wife Gail, of Mechanicsburg, Martin Dluzeski and wife Robin, of Dover, sister Linda Ruhling of St. Louis; nieces, Christine Ruhling, Lauren Dluzeski; nephews, Adam Dluzeski, Mark Dluzeski, Michael Ruhling, Jason Dluzeski, Lee Dluzeski, several great nieces and nephews; companions, Opie and Cali; and previous pets Buddy and Tippy.
All are welcome to join Ben’s family at his viewing on Thursday, August 30, 2012 from 5:00 to 7:00 and on Friday, August 31, 2012 from 9:00 until time of service at 10:00 at Myers–Buhrig Funeral Home and Crematory , 37 East Main Street, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055, with Reverend Michael J. Ripton officiating. Cremation and interment will be private and at the convenience of the family.
The family suggests memorial contributions to the American Cancer Society, 117 North Hanover Street, Carlisle, PA 17013.
