Bernadette “Bennett” V. Cruz Taitague

She Enjoyed Life -

Bernadette “Bennett” or “Bernie” V. Cruz Taitague, age 69, of Shiremanstown, and formerly of Guam, was called home to her eternal resting place on Thursday, November 9, 2017.  Bennett was born on Friday, July 16, 1948, in Yigo, Guam to the late Ignacio Cruz Cruz and Victoria Torres Finona Cruz.  In addition to her parents, Bennett is joined in her new life those who have gone before her, including her four siblings: David I. F. Cruz, Teresita M. and Francisco A. Cruz, Benito Paul Cruz, and Jose S.A. Leon Guerrero ; her siblings-in-law: Francisco Cruz, Gregorio R. Taitague; Henry Blas, and Alex Diaz; and her aunts and uncles: Vincente T. and Maria Q. Finona, Vincenta and Felipe Roberto, Eliza F. Unpingco, Jose and Ignacia Finona, Concepcion F. and Adrian “Nito” Cristobal, Esperanza F. Camacho, Remedios and Jose Sablan, Juan I. and Maria Cruz, Rosa C. and Lourdes C. Cruz, Florencio Fejeran, Vicente and Nativadad S. Cruz, Ana and Jose Tenorio, Delores and Lee Roy Mincey, and Manual and Yolanda Cruz.

Bennett will always be remembered in the hearts of her family which include her loving husband of 47 years, John Roberto Taitague; her beloved son, James Kirk Taitague and his companion, Christina Charfauros, of Mechanicsburg; her grandson, Ryan James Taitague; her 11 siblings and spouses: Joseph and Teresita Mesa Cruz, George and Delia Cruz, Ignacio and Naomi Cruz, Edward V. F. Cruz, Dorothy C. and Stewart Bevins, Jovita Leon Guerrero, Frances P. Cruz, Isabel Mendiola Cruz, Carmen Cristobal, Father Adrian Cristobal, John and Remy Cristobal; her seven siblings-in-law and spouses: Ortha Stephenson, Greg and Millie Taitague, Robert and Priscilla Avvisato, Ray and Julie Flood, Conrad and Cathie Pilcher, Joseph and Cheryl Taitague, Fred and Victoria Taitague; and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Bennett retired from the Government of Guam, where she served as the administrative services officer.  Prior to that and for the majority of her working years, Bennett served the United States Federal Government in various clerical positions.  She was always career orient and dedicated to her job.  Bennett was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Mechanicsburg since she moved to the area in 2009.  She loved to bake and cook; her family always looked forward to indulging in her homemade meals.  Bennett liked being outside and tending to her plants, garden, and flowerbeds.  She enjoyed life and loved to go out and dance, especially in her younger years.  The most important thing to Bennett was her family.  She loved having them around and cherished the time she spent with her son, James, and her grandson, Ryan.  They were her life and Bennett was fortunate to have them and she never took a single day with them for granted.

All are welcome to join Bennett’s family at her viewing on Friday, November 17, 2017, from 10:30 a.m. until time of casket closing at 11:15 a.m. and then followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 a.m. all at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 410 East Simpson Street, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055; with Rev. Augustine Joseph celebrating.  Burial will follow at 2:00 p.m. in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery in Annville.  Honored to be pallbearers are: James Taitague, Jonathon Bevins, Nathaniel Bevins, Kenneth Avvisato, Robert Avvisato, Joseph I. Cruz, and George F. F. Cruz.  Bennett’s family invites everyone to join them for a reception at Funck's Family Restaurant immediately following the burial.
