Bernice Alma (Castoe) Alexander
Reunited With the Love of Her Life -
Bernice Alma (Castoe) Alexander, age 86, of Harrisburg , and formerly of Camp Hill , died at home, where she was cared for by her son and daughter, on Monday, February 9, 2015. Bernice was born on Saturday, July 21, 1928 in Ada, Oklahoma to the late James Castoe and Birdie Castoe. Bernice was the widow of John Paul Alexander whom she married on March 1, 1950 and who died on April 27, 2013. In addition to her parents and husband, Bernice is preceded in death by her sister.
Bernice’s survivors include her children: John Alexander Jr. and his partner Daniel Jusko of Harrisburg, Cynthia “Cindy” Alexander of Harrisburg; and her grand dogs: Benjamin and Romeo.
Bernice retired from NAVRESSO in Mechanicsburg, after 35 years of service working as the first female manager in The Exchange. Family was the center of her world and everything to her. Her best friend was her daughter, Cindy, and she adored her two grand dogs. Bernice and her husband never parted souls and are together again for both Valentine’s Day and their 65 th wedding anniversary. She may have been a petite woman, but she was a powerhouse when it came to protecting her family. Bernice was very proud of her American Indian Heritage as she was a member of the Lost Cherokee Tribe from Arkansas.
A graveside service and interment will at 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday, February 17, 2015 in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery in Annville, PA. Cremation was private.
