Betty Jane (Barth) Bishard

Betty Jane (Barth) Bishard, age 93, of Mechanicsburg, died on Wednesday, February 12, 2025. Betty was born on Thursday, January 21, 1932 in Lancaster, PA to the late William Llywelyn Barth and Gladys Elmyra (Royer) Barth. Betty was the widow of Robert Vernon Bishard, whom she married on April 24, 1954, and who died on February 14, 2013. In addition to her parents and husband, Betty is preceded in death by her two children: Bruce E. Bishard, Brenda Thumma; and her sister: Barbara Urey.

Betty’s survivors include her four children: Rev. Robert “Bob” Vernon Bishard Jr and his wife Carole, of Marysville, PA, Benita Zuvich and her significant other Jeff Austin of Mechanicsburg, PA, William “Bill” Bishard and his wife Theresa, John “Ben” Bishard and his wife Julianne of Mechanicsburg, PA; her nine grandchildren: Christina Bishard Barnhart and her husband Matthew, Robert Dill and his wife Alesha, Sarah Dill, Aaron Zuvich, Alicia Claypool and her husband Chad, Matthew Zuvich and his wife Ashlee, Mandy Bates and her husband Cody, Jessica Bishard, Autumn Bishard Lopez and her husband Justin; and her nine great-grandchildren: Keith Robbins III, Lilyanna Dill, Jaide Dill, Mia Dill, Liam Zuvich, Ariana Zuvich, Collin Zuvich, Easton Bates, Alexis Bates; and her brother: William John Barth.

Betty graduated from York Catholic High School as part of the class of 1952. She is a member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church in Mechanicsburg. She was a member of the Red Hats Society, and TOPPS. Betty loved camping. She loved going to Myrtle Beach with the camper and enjoying the great outdoors. Betty shared her passion with her neighbors, camping together at Apachee campground. She will be dearly missed by those who were fortunate enough to have known her.

Join Betty’s family for her viewing from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 19, 2025 at Buhrig Funeral & Cremation, 37 East Main Street in Mechanicsburg. Join Betty’s family for Mass at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 20, 2025 at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, with burial following the service at Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Betty’s family welcomes family and friends to join them for food and fellowship after the burial at Buhrig’s Gathering Place, 25 East Main Street in Mechanicsburg.
