Betty L. Bucher
A Woman of Great Faith
Betty L. Bucher, 83, of Mechanicsburg went to be with her Lord on Wednesday, June 22, 2011 at home. She was born on Tuesday, September 13, 1927 in Piketown PA, one of 4 children born to the late Rev. Charles E. and Louisa (Moyer) Shore.
Betty was a woman of great faith, growing up in her father’s ministry and evangelizing to others, often through her beautiful singing voice. She enjoyed singing in the church choir and singing at weddings. Being involved with her church was important to Betty and she enjoyed her membership in the First Church of God in Mechanicsburg where she was a member for the past five years. She worked in several nursing homes, using her crafting abilities to provide occupational therapy to the residents. She eventually retired as a baker from the Navy Depot where she put her cooking and baking talents to use. Betty loved her family and was especially fond of children. She loved to babysit.
Betty is survived by her loving husband of 51 years: Paul A. Bucher; one son: Ron Winters and his wife Jane of Mechanicsburg; a step daughter: Susan Weirick and her husband Robert of Florida; two grandsons; one granddaughter; five great grandchildren; two brothers: Paul Shore, Charles Shore; one sister: Grace Snyder; and several nieces and nephews.
