Betty J. Diven
Charming & Independent
Betty J. Diven, 80, of Mechanicsburg, died Friday June 10, 2011, at Holy Spirit Hospital. She was born on June 21, 1930 in Lewistown, the oldest of nine children born to the late Thomas W. and Marie (Henry) Stitt. She was the widow of Donald G. Diven, who was the love of her life.
Betty graduated from Lewistown High School. She retired from Bell Telephone in 1993, and was a member of the Telephone Pioneers. She was a member of Trindle Spring Lutheran Church. She was an avid reader and enjoyed sharing that interest with her friends and grandchildren. She also enjoyed knitting, making sweaters for her children, and golf club covers for her husband. She was a collector of miniature houses, Longenberger baskets, and she loved angels. She and her husband enjoyed going to Myrtle Beach every winter. She also loved going to Hershey Park with her family. She would often go to the Peppermill and Hoss’s, two of her favorite restaurants, to eat with her friends. She was a determined, charming, independent lady, who spoke her mind. She loved her children, grandchildren and dear friends.
She and her husband raised three children who feel blessed to have the upbringing they provided.
