Betty Jane (Stroll) Heffelbower, 83, of Mechanicsburg died at Holy Spirit Hospital on Monday, January 30, 2012. She was born in Harrisburg on April 1, 1928 the daughter of the late Levi and Clara Ann (Dunlap) Stroll. Betty was the widow of James A. Heffelbower who she married on December 24, 1950.
Betty graduated from John Harris High School. She was a loving mother and grandmother and was the consummate caretaker. Betty’s focus was always her family. In her younger years she was very active in many civic organizations. She was a very independent woman with an extremely strong will.
Betty’s survivors include her loving children: Terry L. Bryan of Mechanicsburg, Tanya L. Hollinger and her husband Dennis of Camp Hill, James A. Heffelbower of Mechanicsburg, Jeffrey A. Heffelbower and his fiancé Stephanie Ann Schubert of Camp Hill; six grandchildren: Tracy, Christopher, Tara, Tiffany, Aaron, Jeramie; 11 great grandchildren; three sisters: Mary Layton of Harrisburg, Delores Beinhauer and her husband Richard of Mechanicsburg, Arlene Coffey and her husband Vance of Linglestown; and several nieces and nephews. Among those preceding Betty in death are her siblings: Joseph, Levi, George, Charles, Charlotte, Arbutus, Josephine and Lula.
All are welcome to join Betty’s family at her visitation on Saturday, February 4, 2012, from 10:00 until time of service at 11:00 at Myers–Buhrig Funeral Home and Crematory , 37 East Main Street, Mechanicsburg, PA, 17055, (717) 766-3421, www.Myers-Buhrig.com with Reverend David T. Willard officiating. Burial will immediately follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Mechanicsburg. Honored to be pallbearers are: James Heffelbower, Jeffrey Heffelbower, Jeramie Heffelbower, Aaron Hollinger, Tyler Hollinger and James Martin.
