Fiercely Proud Grandmother -

Betty Jane Mitchell, 90, of Mechanicsburg died at Holy Spirit Hospital on Saturday, December 31, 2011.  She was born in Mechanicsburg on Wednesday, March 23, 1921 daughter of the late Raymond Clifford and Anna (Bihl) Morris.  Betty was the wife of Thomas Cavell Mitchell who she married on April 27, 1946.

Betty graduated from John Harris High School in the 1930s.  She retired in 1983 from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania’s Department of Revenue.  She was a life-long member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Mechanicsburg.  Betty greatly enjoyed her travels around the world and her more than 30 cruses.  She loved shopping with her granddaughter and was fiercely proud of both her grandchildren’s accomplishments which she bragged about at every opportunity.

Betty’s survivors include her loving husband of 65 years: Thomas Cavell Mitchell; her daughter: Jessica Hart and her husband Victor of Mechanicsburg; her granddaughter: Laura Hart of Philadelphia; her grandson: Thomas Hart of Connecticut; her brother: Raymond A. Morris and his wife Doris of Mechanicsburg; her dear friend: Charlotte Siegel of Harrisburg; and several nieces and nephews.

All are welcome to join Betty’s family at her visitation on Thursday, January 5, 2012 from 10:00 until time of Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 at St. Joseph Catholic Church , 400 East Simpson Street, Mechanicsburg, PA, 17055 with Reverend Chester P. Snyder celebrating.  Burial will immediately follow in Mechanicsburg Cemetery.  Honored to be pallbearer’s are: Laura Hart, Thomas Hart, Stephen Morris, Lori Morris and Regina Grazian o.  Betty’s family invites everyone to join them for a Time of Food and Fellowship at her daughter’s house following the burial.
