Hard Worker and Caring Volunteer -

Betty Mae (Getz) Stambach, age 91, of Mechanicsburg , died at home on Monday, September 21, 2015.  Betty was born on Saturday, February 2, 1924 in Lower Allen Township to the late Eugene M. Getz and Violet M. (Stevens) Getz.  Betty was the widow of Arthur “Art” William Stambach, whom she married on March 30, 1945, and who died on June 26, 1990.  In addition to her parents and husband, Betty is preceded in death by her son-in-law, Dwight Schmuck, and her grandson, Stephen Schmuck.

Betty’s survivors include her two daughters: Susan Schmuck of Chambersburg, PA, Nancy Sprenkle and her husband, Chuck, of Mount Wolf, PA; her four grandchildren: Laura Schmuck, Joy Shunk, and her husband, Dan, Amy Sprenkle and her companion, Jody Sadowski, Joseph Sprenkle and his wife, Kristen; her five great-grandchildren: Samuel, Frankie, Chloe, Stephen, and Kara.

Betty graduated from Mechanicsburg High School as part of the class of 1942.  She retired as a branch manager from Dauphin Deposit Bank in Harrisburg in 1989.  Betty was a member of First United Methodist Church in Mechanicsburg and Hershey, and as a pastor’s wife, she was an active member in many of the churches in the Central Pennsylvania Conference.  She was an excellent church secretary, and Betty shared her marvelous musical talents on the piano and organ in several area churches.   Known for being a detail-oriented, organized hard worker, Betty “ran the show” and excelled at everything she did.  She continued her ministry as an active volunteer at Bethany Village , expressing her care and concern for her fellow residents through her involvement on the Resident Council; and Betty enjoyed her time as the Director of Volunteer Services for several years.

All are welcome to join Betty’s family at her viewing on Friday, September 25, 2015, from 1:00 p.m. to 2:15 p.m. and for her service at 2:30 p.m. at Bethany Village East Community Room , 325 Wesley Drive, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055; with Reverend Dr. Dennis Keller and Reverend Chuck Sprenkle officiating.  Burial will follow in Heiland View Cemetery in Red Lion, PA.  Honored to be pall bearers are: Chuck Sprenkle, Kristen Sprenkle, Joseph Sprenkle, Amy Sprenkle, Jody Sadowski, and Frankie Rocco.

The family sends their most heartfelt thanks to everyone at Bethany Village who so lovingly cared for Betty over the years, and the family suggests memorial contributions to Bethany Village Care Assurance Fund , 325 Wesley Drive, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055.
