Beverly “Bev” Ann (Lidwell) Wendekier

A Kind and Gentle Spirit -

Beverly “Bev” Ann (Lidwell) Wendekier, age 81, of Carlisle, and formerly of Camp Hill, went home on Tuesday, August 13, 2019.  Bev was born on Wednesday, May 25, 1938 in Ashville to the late Patrick Joseph Lidwell and Georgia (Noel) Lidwell.  Bev was the widow of Atty. Leopold “Lee” Joseph Wendekier, whom she married in 1976, and who died on July 30, 2001.  In addition to her parents and husband, Bev is preceded in death by her son, Francis Patrick Moran; and her brother, Donald “Bill” William Lidwell.

Bev’s survivors include her two daughters: Debra “Debbie” Ann Moran of Harrisburg and Jennifer J. Shumaker of Camp Hill; her two step sons: Frederick “Fred” Wendekier of Mechanicsburg and Raymond Wendekier of Patton; her step daughter, Eleanor Black of Altoona; her four grandchildren: Amanda Hentz, Julie Moran, Blake Shumaker and Kara Shumaker; her 14 step-grandchildren: Heather Black, Heidi Black, Sue Fedor, Stephanie Mateczyk, Jennifer Milchak, Lori Muldoon, Christopher Wendekier,  David Wendekier, Joseph Wendekier,  Josh Wendekier, Mary Wendekier, Michael Wendekier, Nichole Wendekier, and Raymond Wendekier; and her sister, Brenda Lidwell of Holidaysburg.

Beverly was a kind and gentle spirit; and a woman who was guided by her faith.  She spent her entire life caring for others.  She was a selfless individual with an eternal amount of compassion and genuine love for other people that overflowed from her heart. She made you feel special the moment you met her.  Many people would stop by her home just for a ‘Bev hug’.  All were welcome at the Heartbreak Hotel, where Beverly made sure coffee was always fresh, you were fed, and had a place to stay if needed.   Beverly went to work at Daniels Pharmacy in Mechanicsburg during the 80’s and early 90’s, but her greatest joy was her family.  Her grandchildren were her pride and joy.  A kid at heart, her time spent with each of them was never boring!  Beverly made the simplest things in life special.  Her gracious and loving disposition was contagious.  Just spending time with Beverly was a gift. We all loved just being with her. Arrivederci Mom, Nanny, Nana, Bana, and Crocky, you will be forever loved, forever cherished and deeply missed.  She is now in the presence of her two favorite Kings - Jesus and Elvis.

All are welcome to join Bev’s family at her open house style gathering of family and friends where friends can share memories and enjoy homemade desserts and a fresh cup of coffee, as Bev would love to do, on Friday, September 20, 2019, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Buhrig Funeral Home & Crematory, 37 East Main Street, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055.  Immediately following the open house, Bev’s family invites everyone to attend a Dutch treat cocktail reception at Snapper’s Bar and Grill, 120 East Allen Street, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055, where all can raise a glass in Bev’s honor.  Cremation was private.

Contributions in celebration of Bev’s life can be made to Alzheimer’s Association - Greater Pennsylvania Chapter, 2595 Interstate Drive, Suite 100, Harrisburg, PA 17110.

Bev’s family has entrusted her care to Buhrig Funeral Home and Crematory in Mechanicsburg, (717) 766-3421.  Read Bev’s full obituary, view her memorial video, and sign her official guest book at Buhrig.com.
