Billy Joe Dye

Billy Joe Dye, age 72, of Mechanicsburg, died at Holy Spirit Hospital on Tuesday, December 22, 2015. Billy was born on Friday, October 8, 1943 in Wellington, KY to the late Ed Dye and Mildred (Miller) Dye. In addition to his parents, Billy is preceded in death by his two brothers.
Billy’s survivors include his wife of 10 years, Bonnie Kay (Plumley) Dye; his six children: Billy Dye, Steve Dye, Tonia Kirk of Bridgeville, Randy Plumley and his wife, Jacqueline, of Scranton, Sandy Hairston of Mechanicsburg, Tiffany Moore of Camp Hill; and his many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Billy served in the United States Army for six years and then the United States Navy, as well as the Seabees, for four years. Billy gave three years of service as a police officer at Conneaut Lake. He retired from Deimler Trucking in Mechanicsburg, after 19 years of service working as a truck driver. Billy was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan and never missed a game. He enjoyed playing bass guitar in his band, drag racing with his brother, and performing acts of magic.
All are welcome to join Billy’s family at his viewing on Monday, December 28, 2015, from 5:00 p.m. until time of service at 7:00 p.m. at Myers - Buhrig Funeral Home and Crematory, 37 East Main Street, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055.
