Brian Jackson Cunningham

A Loving and Caring Man -

Brian Jackson Cunningham, age 78, of Mechanicsburg, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 3, 2016.  Brian was born on Monday, November 22, 1937 in Lewistown to the late John R. Cunningham and Helen A. (Riden) Cunningham.  In addition to his parents, Brian is preceded in death by his brother, Richard Cunningham.

Brian’s survivors include his loving wife of 54 years, Sara Jane (Heiges) Cunningham; his two daughters, Sherry Cunningham and Karen Jones, both of Mechanicsburg; and his grandson, Brandon Jones, of South Carolina.

Brian served in the Army National Guard from 1960 to 1966. He attended First United Methodist Church in Mechanicsburg for many years.  Brian was a loving, caring, and nurturing man who was a good provider for his family.  He even took care of his mother, aunt, and mother-in-law during their times of need.  One of Brian’s favorite activities was working in his yard; and when he could not be outdoors, he liked to clean up and organize things inside his home.  Some of Brian’s favorite pastimes were fishing, watching basketball and football on television, and attending auto shows.  Brian absolutely loved music; his favorite singer was Neil Diamond.  Planning for the future was important to Brian and he encouraged his daughters to do the same.  Brian and his grandson were very close; time spent together was positive for them both and kept Brian feeling young.

Services and cremation will be private and at the family's convenience.
