Brian Jeffrey Garrett
Passionate Chef -
Brian Jeffrey Garrett, age 41, of Orange Park, FL , and formerly of Hershey and Dillsburg , died Saturday, August 15, 2015. He was born on Monday, June 3, 1974, in Camp Hill.
Brian’s survivors include his parents: Robert Edwin Garrett of Camp Hill, Helen Jane (Lutz) Garrett and her partner, Alan Wayne Shaffer, of Mechanicsburg; his two sisters: Lisa Marie Garrett Redding and her husband, Scott, and their children, Austin, Alyssa, and Ashley, all of Bethlehem; and Kelly Lauren Garrett Herman, and her husband, Christopher, of Harrisburg.
Brian graduated from Northern High School as part of the class of 1992. He then went on to pursue a career in electronics at the PA College of Technology . After completing his course of study and graduation, Brian found several jobs in the field of electronics. However, he was discontent and found that his real hope would be to become a successful chef and create outstanding meals to please his customers. He then started his career as a cook at Nick Cantone’s Restaurant in Harrisburg, PA. There he was able to learn his trade and went on to create new items for their menu that became very popular. Brian and his father then became owners of DeMarco’s Restaurant in Hershey, PA. This now gave Brian the opportunity to expand his horizons as a great chef. He managed the restaurant, as well as, created a whole new menu which brought customers from near and far. Those customers are still raving about the best meals that they had ever tasted until this day. After the closing of DeMarco’s, Brian started working as a chef at Hershey Lodge and Convention Center . After being there for some years, Brian made the decision to relocate to Orange Park, FL., where he became the head chef at the Hilltop Restaurant . Here, Brian, once again, totally revised and created an outstanding menu to please his customers. In addition to his career, Brian loved the outdoors and loved to go for a walk or sit by the canal near his home. He loved animals and always cherished the memories of his dog, Chloe. Brian also enjoyed soccer, baseball, golf, swimming, and fishing. He loved music and could play the saxophone, drums, guitar, and piano. Brian was the type of person who would help others before himself. He will be deeply missed by everyone who knew him.
