Bruce Kennedy Nailor, Jr., age 86, of Enola, and formerly of Carlisle, passed away on Friday, November 24, 2017. Bruce was born on Sunday, January 11, 1931.
Bruce’s survivors include his loving wife of 41 years, Joann (Papp) Nailor; his four children: Barbara, Leonard, Richard, and Joseph; his many grandchildren; and his brother.
Bruce began working as a teenager when his father took ill and he left school to work the farm allowing his brother to continue with his schooling. Even as a young man Bruce was devoted to his family, a trait he carried throughout his life.
Bruce loved being a truck driver and enjoyed his time driving for Minnich’s Garage, Shaffer Trucking, PPG Trucking, and Glen Moore Transport. Those who knew Bruce well know that according to Bruce, all trips began in Carlisle. He drove for both work and for pleasure as he visited almost every state in his RV. Camping was one of Bruce’s joys as was driving from Carlisle to Nova Scotia on his regular runs.
Stuffed Peppers, country music, old westerns, and collecting die cast tractor trailers were some of Bruce’s pleasures. He loved his dogs, especially Doodles who was always by his side. Bruce was a family man who loved nothing more than getting on the floor with his grandchildren to play and laugh. Family get gatherings were a special time and he was a fiercely proud grandfather. He was a man with a fairly loud bark but no bite. With a wonderful sense of humor and a caring spirit, Bruce was always there to help those in need. He will be missed.
All are welcome to join Bruce’s family at his viewing on Saturday, December 2, 2017, from 12:00 p.m. until time of service at 1:00 p.m. at Myers - Buhrig Funeral Home and Crematory, 37 East Main Street, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055; with Celebrant George A. Spangler officiating. Bruce’s family invites friends to join them for a time of food and fellowship at the café next to Myers – Buhrig immediately following the service. Burial in Rolling Green Cemetery in Camp Hill will be private.
