Brunhilda Marcella (Senlask) Walsh, 85, of Mechanicsburg , and formerly of Saylorsburg , died at Country Meadows in Mechanicsburg on Thursday, August 1, 2013. She was born in Franklin Square, NY, on Saturday, August 20, 1927, daughter of the late Marcel Senlask and Brunhilda (Scrubay) Senlask. Hilda was the wife of Lawrence Arthur Walsh to whom she was married for 61 years.
Hilda’s survivors include her loving husband, Lawrence; her children, Matt Walsh of NJ; Andy Walsh of NY, Jim Walsh of Effort, John Walsh and his wife Cookie of FL, May Rockwood and her husband Bill of GA; grandchildren, Wesley Walsh, Maggie Walsh, Kathryn Naughton and Lindsay Rockwood. Among those preceding Hilda in death is her son Andy’s wife, Thomasine Walsh.
Hilda graduated from Sewanhaka High School as part of the class of 1945, from Adelphi College in NY, with a Bachelor of Arts degree, and from Newark State College in NJ, with a Master of Arts degree. After a career in teaching special education, she worked in the family business Meriden Mason Supplies in Rockaway, NJ. Hilda was a 40 year practicing member of the Lait Dominican Order of Caldwell College Chapter. She volunteered at Texas Transportation Museum in San Antonia, TX, and was instrumental in setting up its library. Hilda had a voracious appetite for history, loved gardening, traveling throughout the world with her husband, and cooking.
Cremation, a Mass of Christian Burial, and interment in Mechanicsburg Cemetery will be private. The family suggests memorial contributions to Humane Society of Harrisburg, 7790 Grayson Road, Harrisburg, PA 17111.
