Cameron Alan Bruce, age 55, of Camp Hill , died on August 14, 2015.  He was born on Sunday, March, 6, 1960, in Mechanicsburg, PA, the son of the late Herman Paul Bruce and Jean Miriam (Barbour) Bruce.

Cameron graduated from Cumberland Valley High School , class of ’78, and from Lebanon Valley College and Southeastern Louisiana University , where he received a master’s degree in music.  Most recently, he was a well-loved band director at Cumberland Valley School District for 13 years.

Cameron enjoyed reading and riding his motorcycle but he was most passionate about music. Early in his career, he was a member of the Blue Devils , Crossmen , and Westshoremen drum and bugle corps.  He wrote and arranged music for various ensembles and judged with the National Judges Association for 16 years.  Perhaps he will be remembered most for his gifts of music and humor.

Cameron is survived by his wife, Karen Cross Bruce and his two sons, Vlad and Sergei, of Enola.  Missing him greatly are two sisters:  Kathleen Kennedy, wife of David, and their children, Adam and Alissa, of Mays Landing, NJ; and Carole Bruce and her daughter, Amy, of Mechanicsburg.

To celebrate Cameron’s life, an open house and gathering of family and friends will be held at The Mechanicsburg Club , 333 West Heinz Street, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055, on Sunday, August 23 from 1:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m.; with a time of remembrance and featured musical performance beginning at 2:15 p.m.  Jam sessions will begin at 1:30 p.m. and 3:15 p.m., so bring your horn and jam along.  The family invites everyone to dress comfortably and casually.

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Cameron may be sent to a school music program of your choice or to the Eagle Foundation, 6746 Carlisle Pike, Mechanicsburg, PA 17050.
