Carl Edwin Cseko

Carl Edwin Cseko, age 83, of Mechanicsburg, and formerly of Bedford, died on Friday, January 12, 2024.  Carl was born on Monday, February 12, 1940, in Brownsville to the late Carl Cseko and Grace Evelyn (Marks) Cseko.  In addition to his parents, Carl is preceded in death by his sister, Stella Ann Koballa.

Carl’s survivors include his wife of 59 years, Trudy Lee (Vensel) Cseko; his two children: Gretchen Nesmith and her husband, David, of Mechanicsburg, Gary Cseko and his wife, Nichola, of Rochester, MN; his five grandchildren: Taylor, Karina, Kiera, Brandon, David and his wife, Nikki, who have Carl’s first great-granddaughter on the way; his sister, Lynn Smith of Westminster, MD; and several nieces and nephews.

He attended Brownsville area schools through the 11th grade.  His family moved to Cleveland, OH where he graduated from John Marshall High School.  He worked as a meat cutter for several years in Cleveland.  Carl entered the PA State Police in 1962 and was assigned to Hollidaysburg, McConnellsburg, Bedford, Huntingdon, Philipsburg and Harrisburg during his career with the State Police.  In 1962 and 1963, he performed in the PA State Police rodeo where he participated in shows across the state.  He retired from PSP on Jan 1, 1993, then spent 14 winters in N. Fort Myers FL and served as a computer guru for friends and family throughout retirement.  He was a member of the Bedford Presbyterian Church and served as a trustee. 

Carl’s family will be remembering his life privately.  Interment will be at the family’s convenience.  Cremation was private.
