Carol Lynn (McGuire) Newcomer, 46, of Carlisle and formerly of Lancaster died Friday, June 3, 2011 at Harrisburg Hospital. She was born on Friday, August 28, 1964 in Lancaster the daughter of W. H. “Billy” McGuire and the late Edna Elizabeth (Brooks) McGuire. She married her long time partner, Shawn Lewis Newcomer, on February 21, 1998.

Carol attended McCaskey High School in Lancaster. Her biggest passion was cooking and watching cooking shows. She made an “awesome” and unforgettable Chicken Pot Pie and she loved ice cream. Her favorite color was purple. She enjoyed both NASCAR and Go Cart Racing especially when she was watching her children race. She took great pleasure in flowers, gardening, lighthouses and heart shaped jewelry. She was a movie “freak”, unless it was a western.

Carol owned every Eagles album ever made and was crazy for Don Henley. Her favorite Golden Glove and Semi-pro Fighter was “Billy” McGuire, “The Fighting Irishman” and her father, who had a record of 34 & 4. Billy remembers that Carol was the “easiest to teach to drive”. Her entire family smiles as they recall how she “tried” to dance and sing. She will be missed and loved forever.

Carol is survived by her loving husband with whom she was partnered for 21 years: Shawn Lewis Newcomer; her daughter: Caitlyn E. Matz and her husband Cameron of Carlisle; her son: Jeremy S. Newcomer of Carlisle; her father: W. H. “Billy” McGuire of Lancaster; her sister: Karen L. Colley and her husband John of Lancaster; her dog: Sir Maxwell Paine; and her cat: Teddy.
