Carol Ellen (Dively) Rudy
Always Volunteering -
Carol Ellen (Dively) Rudy, age 80, of Mechanicsburg, died at ManorCare Health Services in Carlisle on Sunday, September 3, 2017. Carol was born on Friday, December 23, 1936 in Enola to the late Eugene Dively and Clover (Hartman) Dively. Carol was the widow of Stanley L. Rudy who died on November 10, 1989. In addition to her parents and beloved husband, Carol is preceded in death by her brother, Eugene Dively, and her son-in-law, Charles “Charlie” Farleman.
Carol’s survivors include her three children: Scott Powers and his wife, Loriann, of Enola, Cynthia Powers and her husband, Robert Fisher, of Mechanicsburg, and Tracy Hosler and her husband, Scott, of Mifflintown; her three grandchildren: Kayla Hostler, Tonya Miller, and Sierra Farleman; her three great-grandchildren: Makayla Miller, Jaxon Hostler, and Easton Hostler; her four siblings: Naomi, Linda, Gene, and Floyd; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Carol attended and volunteered at numerous Mechanicsburg churches as well as volunteering at PinnacleHealth where she crocheted hats for both the cancer patients and new born babies. Volunteering was Carol’s way of helping others and was one of her greatest joys. In addition to crocheting, Carol’s hands found themselves in the dirt as she faithfully tended her yard and flower gardens. Her hands would again convey love as they turned to baking and the making of her famous chocolate Easter eggs. Over the years, several dogs were lucky enough to find a home with Carol, who adored them all. Family was important to Carol and she held all of her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren deep in her heart. Her children remember the joy and happiness that Carol always exuded as she spent time with the love of her life and husband, Stanley. Those were truly happy times.
All are welcome to join Carol’s family at her viewing on Friday, September 8, 2017, from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at 11:00 a.m. at Myers - Buhrig Funeral Home and Crematory, 37 East Main Street, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055; with Celebrant George A.
