Carol Dianne (Waud) Uslin, age 90, of Mechanicsburg, died on Wednesday, April 9, 2025. Carol was born on Thursday, September 6, 1934, in Bethlehem to the late William Charles Waud and Tillie (Christine) Waud. In addition to her parents, Carol is preceded in death by her son: William B. Uslin; former husband, Louis T. Uslin; and sister: Andrea Grubb.
Carol’s survivors include her three children: Suzanne O’Brien and husband David, of Shiremanstown, Brenda Fijalkowski and husband Hank, of Millersville, Louis Uslin and wife Christine, of South Abbington Township; her five grandchildren: Lauren, Lindsay, Taylor, Matthew, and Megan; her sister: Gail Weber of Mechanicsburg; several nieces and nephews; and her beloved feline companion: Carter.
Carol graduated from Bethlehem (Liberty) High School as part of the class of 1953 and attended Lehigh Community College. Throughout her lifetime, she worked at Pomeroys and Sears as a sales associate and at 80 years old, she retired in 2015 from the former BB&T Bank following a long tenure as a teller. Carol’s interests were diverse, ranging from reading and watching TV, with a particular fondness for Dr. Pol, games shows, and Penn State Football, to NHRA Drag Racing at Maple Grove Speedway. In her earlier years, she enjoyed swimming and ice skating, and was a great admirer of figure skater Nathan Chen. As a warm and gracious hostess, Carol took great pleasure in hosting annual holiday parties. Her nickname, the greeting card queen, was a testament to her dedication to sending cards on holidays and birthdays. Carol’s affection for animals was evident in her love for feline companions and her appreciation for Snoopy. She also enjoyed shopping excursions to Boscov’s with her sister Pat and playing Bingo at Bethany Towers. Carol will be dearly missed by those who were fortunate enough to have known her.
