Carol “Auntie” Diane McAfoos, 56, of Mechanicsburg and formerly of Hillsdale, PA, died at Harrisburg Hospital on Friday, January 6, 2012. She was born in Punxsutawney, PA, on Wednesday, March 9, 1955.
Carol graduated from Purchase Line High School, Indiana County, PA, as part of the class of 1973 and from the Institute of Computer Management in 1974 with a degree in computer programming. She was an employee of Defense Information Systems Agency, Mechanicsburg, with more than 35 years of service, starting out as a computer operator and working up to her current position of IT specialist.
Carol loved to read anything she could get her hands on. After she purchased her Kindle, she never left home without it. She enjoyed spending time with her two great-nieces.
Carol’s survivors include her loving niece, Emily Pivovarnik, with whom she lived in Mechanicsburg along with her two great-nieces, Mary Jane and Leauna Marie Oliver.
She is preceded in death by her best friend, Mary Jane “MJ” Pivovarnik, who is waiting to greet her in heaven.

Cremation will be private and at the convenience of the family.
