Catherine “Aunt Cass” Ann Miller

Catherine “Aunt Cass” Ann Miller, age 86, of New Jersey and formerly of Bethel Park, Pennsylvania and Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 10, 2020. Catherine was born on Thursday, April 26, 1934, in Plymouth Township, Pennsylvania, to the late William Wesley Miller and Catherine (Swithers) Miller. In addition to her parents, Catherine is preceded in death by her three brothers: Eugene Hobart Miller, Albert William Miller and Alfred Rhinehart Miller; her sister, Louise Eleanor Grabski; and her beloved cocker spaniel, Megan.
Catherine’s survivors include her brother, Kenneth “Ken” Wesley Miller and wife Nancy of Mechanicsburg; several nieces and nephews, including Susan “Sue” Margaret McCauley and husband Michael of Sewell, New Jersey; Christopher “Chris” David Miller and spouse, Lee Metz, of Bethel Park; Donald “Don” William Miller and wife Kathleen of Southington, Connecticut.
Catherine graduated from Curtis High School as part of the class of 1952. She proudly served her country in the United States Air Force. Catherine retired from Fort Monmouth Army Base in Monmouth, New Jersey, in 1989 as a computer programmer. As a young woman, she was very athletic and loved to bowl, ski, and play softball. After her retirement, Catherine continued to be active; tending to her garden and exercising at the gym five days a week. During her down time, she loved to play card games on her laptop computer, take trips to the Borgata Casino in Atlantic City, and spend time with her beloved cocker spaniel. Catherine was the “tie that binds” for the Miller family. She hosted many family barbecues and holiday meals that brought everyone in the family together. Catherine’s great personality and her natural ability to make people feel comfortable drew people to her. She made friends with ease. Her family fondly remembers that Catherine was always willing to give help to anyone in need.
All are welcome to join Catherine’s family for her virtual gathering of family and friends and service via video chat or telephone on Tuesday, May 19, 2020, from 11:15 a.m. until time of virtual viewing at 12:00 p.m. and time of service at 12:15 p.m. with military honors at 12:45 p.m. Celebrant Patricia Vogl will officiate. Private burial will be in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery in Annville, Pennsylvania at the convenience of the family.
