Cecelia Jaye (Ritter) Stoner

Cecelia Jaye (Ritter) Stoner, age 88, of Carlisle, and formerly of Mechanicsburg, passed away peacefully in faith on Monday, June 3, 2019. Cecelia was born on Saturday, December 6, 1930 in Mechanicsburg to the late Daniel Herbert Ritter, Sr. and Susan M. (Musser) Ritter. Cecelia was the widow of James C. Stoner, whom she married on October 27, 1948, and who died on May 4, 1996. In addition to her parents and husband, Cecelia is preceded in death by her son, J. “Doug” Douglas Stoner; her two brothers: Daniel H. Ritter, Jr., Dale S. Ritter; and her sister, Patricia K. Alleman.
Cecelia’s survivors include her two sons: Larry C. Stoner and his wife, Wendy, of Carlisle, Gregory “Greg” A. Stoner of Mechanicsburg; her two grandchildren: Jenniffer A. Smith of Mechanicsburg, Christavon B. C. Stoner and his significant other, Jessica Rogers, of Carlisle; her two great-grandsons: Dalton W. C. Stoner, Dane G. L. Stoner; and several nieces and nephews.
Cecelia graduated from Mechanicsburg High School as part of the class of 1948. She retired from the Quaker Oats Company in Shiremanstown, after nearly 30 years of service working as a customer service representative. Cecelia was a member of Ascension Evangelical Lutheran Church in Harrisburg. She liked sewing, gardening, and reading, especially mystery novels. Cecelia also loved swimming and going to the beach with her husband. She was quite the talented cook, whose delicious chocolate chip cookies, brownies, and Christmas cookies are going to be missed. Cecelia had a kind and giving spirit that extended to taking care of others. She will also be remembered for being quick witted, sharp, and independent.
All are welcome to join Cecelia’s family at her viewing on Friday, June 7, 2019, from 10:00 a.m. until time of casket closing at 11:00 a.m. with a service to follow at 11:15 a.m. at Buhrig Funeral Home and Crematory, 37 East Main Street, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055; with Pastor M. Robert Green officiating. Burial will follow in Cumberland Valley Memorial Gardens in Carlisle. Cecelia’s family invites everyone to join them for a dutch treat reception at Hoss’s Steak & Sea House, 909 Walnut Bottom Road, Carlisle, PA 17015, following the burial.
