Charles Samuel Alexander, 80, of Mechanicsburg , died at home on Sunday, June 2, 2013. He was born in Camp Hill, on Sunday, August 21, 1932 son of the late James G. Alexander and Mary E. (Ritter) Alexander.
Charles’s survivors include his children, Sharron Britton of Mechanicsburg, Michael Alexander and his wife Rebecca of Mechanicsburg, Charlotte Alexander of Carlisle, Brian Alexander and his wife Janice of Mechanicsburg; his grandchildren, Brian Keith Alexander, Michael Alexander, Megan Alexander, Nathan Alexander; a great-granddaughter, Alena Alexander; his siblings, Richard Alexander, Gail Levan, Karen Watson; and several nieces and nephews. Among those preceding Charles in death are a brother, Ray Alexander and a sister Delores Jones.
Charles graduated from Mechanicsburg High School as part of the class of 1950 and was a member of the National Honor Society. He retired from Robert Feaster Corporation, serving as a project manager and worked over 45 years in the construction field. Charles was a US Navy Veteran and proudly served as a Petty Officer Second Class during and after the Korean War. He was an avid golfer and a 34 year member of the Carlisle Country Club . Charles was a member of VFW Post 6704 and American Legion Post 109 both in Mechanicsburg. He was a longtime Green Bay Packers fan.
All are welcome to join Charles’s family at his visitation on Tuesday, June 11, 2013 from 9:00 to 10:00 at Myers–Buhrig Funeral Home and Crematory , 37 East Main Street, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055. A graveside service will follow at 10:30 at Cumberland Valley Memorial Gardens , 1921 Ritner Highway, Carlisle with Celebrant Alan Echard officiating. Military honors will be presented by the Cumberland County Honor Guard .
The family suggests memorial contributions to the American Diabetes Association, 3544 North Progress Avenue, Harrisburg, PA 17110.
