Charles "Charlie" Leroy Sheriff

Charles “Charlie” Leroy Sheriff, age 82, of Mechanicsburg, died on Tuesday, October 22, 2024. Charlie was born on Wednesday, July 29, 1942, in Mechanicsburg to the late Charles Sheriff and Martha (Zimmerman) Sheriff. 

Charlie’s survivors include his wife of 62 years, Carole (Trimmer) Sheriff; his three children: Janice Whitcomb (Rick) of Mechanicsburg, Steven Sheriff (Stephanie) of Carlisle, Ann Edgar (Rich) of Mechanicsburg; his seven grandchildren: Ryan Edgar (Katie), Johnathan Sheriff, Jayna Whitcomb, Gregg Whitcomb, Maggie Mazza  (Angelo), Kyle Edgar, Adam Edgar; his four great-grandchildren: James, Laynie, and  Henley Sheriff, and Charlotte Mazza; his brother Don Sheriff and his wife Pam of Cypress, TX and several nieces and nephews.

Charlie was a graduate of Cumberland Valley High School, class of 1960 where he was a member of the basketball and baseball teams.  He was a lifetime member of the Mechanicsburg Sportsmans Association, coached all of our softball and baseball teams and enjoyed watching college basketball and golf. Charlie was a lifelong resident of Mechanicsburg and loved his neighbors and sitting on his front porch.

Charlie was a great husband, dad and pap and will be greatly missed by us all. 

All are welcome to join Charlie’s family at his celebration of life open house and gathering of family and friends on Sunday, November 10, 2024, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. with a time of remembrance at 2:30 p.m. at Buhrig’s Gathering Place, 25 East Main Street, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055, (717) 766-3421 (next to Buhrig Funeral & Cremation. Over 100 parking spaces are available; just look for the “Buhrig” parking signs in all of the parking lots. Cremation was private.
