Charles Louis Schaefer, Sr.

Charles “Chuck” Louis Schaefer, Sr., age 91, of Mechanicsburg, passed away on Monday, June 13, 2022 at Thornwald Home in Carlisle.  Chuck was born on Thursday, October 23, 1930, in Spooner, Wisconsin to the late Edward Ferdinand Schaefer and Laura (Quinn) Schaefer.  In addition to his parents, Chuck is preceded in death by his son, Stephen Edward Schaefer; three sisters; and five brothers.

Chuck’s survivors include his wife of 66 years, Joyce Arlene (Lucas) Schaefer; his son, Charles “Chuck” Louis Schaefer, Jr. and his wife, Leslie, of Groton, Connecticut; his granddaughter, Carly Schaefer of San Diego, California; and his daughter in-law, Deborah “Debbie” Siters of Mechanicsburg.

During his time on earth, Chuck enlisted in the Air Force and served in the Korean Conflict.  He returned state side and met his wife, Joyce Lucas, from Mechanicsburg.  Chuck worked for IBM for 31 years.  After his official retirement, he delivered parts for NAPA another 10 years and for Pep Boys an additional 10 years.  Chuck enjoyed his weekly bowling outings with his retired friends for many years and spending time with his family.  Chuck adored his family, especially his one and only grandchild, Carly.  The two of them enjoyed many special times together.  Chuck was a special person who will be greatly missed.

A celebration of Chuck’s life will be held at a later date.  Cremation was private.
