Charles “Charlie” Joseph Swank, Jr., age 61, of Mechanicsburg, passed away peacefully and surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday, October 21, 2020. Charlie was born on Thursday, November 6, 1958, in Harrisburg to the late Charles Joseph Swank, Sr. and Philomena Marie (Tate) Swank. Charlie’s survivors include wife of 31 years, Aimée Darlene (Bretz) Swank; his two daughters: Samantha Rachel Swank and her fiance, Ahmed Skander, of Mechanicsburg, Nicole Ashley Swank of Mechanicsburg; his two grandchildren: Aliyah and Amir Swank; his brother: Robert “Rob” Anthony Swank and his companion, Autumn Miller, of Mechanicsburg; his niece; and his beloved grand-dog: Oscar.
Charlie grew up with a love for airplanes and building plastic models. This continued into his adulthood and was shared with his best friend, Michael Furry. In addition to airplanes, Charlie had a love of history and visiting historical locations. Above all, Charlie loved his soul mate, Aimée. They shared many anniversaries together at their favorite vacation spot Chincoteague, VA. Charlie will be remembered as a devoted husband and father, prankster, and a genuine friend.
All are welcome to join Charlie’s family at gathering of family and friends on Thursday, October 29, 2020 from 3:00 p.m. until time of remembrance at 4:00 p.m. at Buhrig Funeral Home & Crematory, 37 East Main Street, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055. Cremation was private.
The family sends their most heartfelt thanks to the staff of Select Specialty Hospital in Harrisburg, who so lovingly cared for Charlie during his illness.
